Summer Eats
There have definitely been some good eats happening in the kitchen as we prepare for summer to arrive this Saturday at 6:51 in the morning. With summer in mind, I've been whipping up seasonal eats and today I wanted to share some of my favorite dishes from around the web.
These scallops in a dijon cream sauce made for a nice light lunch, but could also be served as an appetizer to share with a crisp, cool glass of wine on a hot summer evening.
Keeping with the seafood theme, I could not pass up grilling fresh branzino from Yellow Umbrella Provisions — these are so fun to serve family style, eating to share:
And finally, I realize there is no "R" in June, but I enjoyed sharing my go-to method for shucking and serving local Anderson's Neck Oysters over on Relay Foods this week:
I am very excited to get in the kitchen today and work with a fresh head of cabbage I picked up for an Indian style dish I've got in the works. I found myself running all over town yesterday collecting things like fresh curry leaves, asafetida, and Anaheim peppers.
I'm also very excited to be attending the Mid-Atlantic Food Writers Symposium — From Fork to Folio tomorrow and Saturday! This is going to be a wonderful learning experience to work side by side with the some amazing movers and shakers in the food world. Certainly more to come on that front!
As always,
E.A.T. local E.A.T. well
