Cooking with Ramps

I follow a lot of food blogs and by a lot I mean, approaching 100. It's a welcome ritual every morning to come down and go through my reader, catching up with the going ons of other bloggers. It's also a source of learning and after a while you get to the point where you feel like you know the writer. Some articles I skim and others I take the time to read, or in this case watch what they are up to.

Peter Barrett writes the food blog, cookblogwhich I have kept up with for some time now. In addition to the blog, he is the food and drink editor for Chronogram, an arts and culture magazine in the Hudson Valley. He has teamed up with Handpicked Nation for a food and music video series where Peter is paired with a musician and they cook together. In this first of the series, he teams up with keyboard master John Medeski.

I hope you enjoy this video as much as I did. Both Peter and John speak to my kind of cooking, eating, and sourcing of food.

As far as ramps are concerned — we will have to wait until spring!

  1. Tim, I thought ramps were a WV secret? At least they should be :)

An avid home cook, I believe in using simple ingredients, local when possible and am inspired by the principles of supporting a sustainable food system. I’ve cultivated this blog as a way to share my passion for the preparation and enjoyment of food in a way that everyone from beginners to long time foodies can get involved in.
